Part of the continued broadening of the secondary market involves a larger range of whiskies active on the exchange. There is no surprise here, as a wee dram pair excellently with the end of a long day’s work, particularly as the nights draw in. George Bernard Shaw suggested, “whisky is liquid sunshine.” Johnny Carson believed “happiness is having a rare steak, a bottle of whisky, and a dog to eat the rare steak.”
In 2020, trades for whisky have more than doubled over 2019 with a corresponding rise in the number of buyers, which has reached an all-time high for the year to date.
Scotland is where the focus is – there are 25 active markets, with 21 offers awaiting a bid and three bids awaiting an offer. Glenfarclas is the most active brand, with trades shared among the 25, 30, and 40-year Highland Single Malts.
